• The buoyancy of a life jacket is measured in the Newton unit. With this measurement, vests are marked and divided into different classes, depending on the flotation they offer. The exact Newton figure may differ based on the size of the vest. The Baltic Aqua Pro Red 50N Buoyancy Aid is a comfortable, all-around personal flotation device featuring a front zip fastening with waistband, bottom and top ties. It offers 50N of buoyancy, which is enough to keep users afloat but not enough to provide head support. Also, the buoyancy is distributed between the front and back, rather than just the back, making it unable to turn an unconscious person onto their back. The 50N buoyancy aid is recommended for swimmers who weigh 25kg or more. Every piece of flotation clothing in the Baltic range is tested and approved to the 50N standard.
